The Sopo shop is open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7 pm until 10 pm, and on Saturdays from 2 pm until 6 pm. The purpose of General Shop Hours is to provide our community with a people's bicycle repair shop.
As a way to continue as a safe space for all volunteers and visitors of the shop Sopo is providing monthly Women and Trans only Bicycle Clinics. The maintenance classes are a way for all participants of the shop who identify as female to learn bike mechanics and share skills. We hope that by allowing visitors who may have felt marginalized in other bike shop settings a time to gain comfort within the space without the male-dominated environment, women will feel empowered and safe coming back to the shop to volunteer and work on bikes during other Open Shop Hours. These classes are facilitated by female bicycle mechanics and were created in part to efectively help sustain a more diverse group of volunteers and visitors to better represent our community.
Sopo installs bicycle parking racks for local businesses. Prices start at $180 for a 5-bike capacity rack. All materials and installation by Sopo volunteers are included in the price.
The Earn-A-Bike program at Taskforce for the Homeless allows Resident Volunteers of the shelter to access an onsite bicycle repair shop where they can learn bicycle maintenance skills, share bike repair tools, and earn bikes. Sopo Bicycle Cooperative is a proud community partner in this project.
