Sopo Bike in Action
Since starting to volunteer at Sopo I have been more aware of cyclists on the road. I have noticed there are bike commuters who I am one of and there are packs of cyclists who look like they are training for a race. Curiosity got to me and I wanted to find about these group rides who seem to be everywhere, everyday of the week. And I wanted to do it all on my Sopo Franken-Bike.
My bike is a Sopo Franken-Bike so named because it is made up of many different pieces, all from Sopo. It is another bike much like the others that come out of Sopo, a mix and match of pieces that make a rideable bike. All the work putting together the bike and working out the bugs was done at Sopo. Sopo had all the tools I needed. And I didn't have to go very far to get some really helpful advice. "Each One, Teach One" really applies because I learned a lot from other people, volunteers or not, at the shop. I did want to add a part that I had to go outside the shop and actually purchase. It still makes for a budget cyclist and the bike was great as-is rolling out of the shop with all Sopo parts.
I have rode with the Thursday night group that leaves the CVS in Decatur at 6:30pm on Thursday nights. I have also ridden with several weekend groups, various times and places. At times its been a challenge and at other times its been a great tour of the city. Today was a combination of both. I rode with a Decatur group on Sunday at 9am from the Old Courthouse. It was a 5-hour ride, 60 something miles, and 3200 feet of climbing. The stats were from another rider with the gadgets. This is the farthest I have ever rode. And all of this was on a Sopo Franken-Bike.
All I'm missing is a Sopo Robot Sheep sticker to claim this as a Sopo bike.
