How you can help the Fugees Family
Wow! We've received an overwhelming amount of correspondance this week about the Fugees Family's need for bicycles for their summer literacy program. We assure you, we've been in contact with the Family for quite some time working on how exactly Sopo can be a resource. We've invited the Family to use the shop, and we've offered them what bikes we can, but we're tapped out for the moment, and we need the big donation that's coming in for our entire community (which, of course, includes the Family, AND also includes tons of other people in need). So here's how YOU can make a HUGE IMPACT: start asking around for bikes in your community or neighborhood and donate them directly to the Family. In related news, one of our International Rescue Committee interns from 2006, Yonatan, is working on getting a community bike shop going in Clarkston where all of these refugee resettlement organizations are located. Perhaps we can direct some of this kindness and energy into getting that going.
