BikeBike 2009

Three of us went, conferenced, rode bikes, had a lot of fun, and returned from the BikeBike international annual conference.Dianna, Alex, and Corny drove to Minneapolis, MN with our bikes to attend the conference organized by and for Not-For-Profit bike projects.  This years conference was hosted by the Grease Pit in Minneapolis with help from Sibley Bike Depot in St Paul.

There were an assortment of different workshops geared towards helping bike projects better serve their intended communities.  We met some great like minded folks who have the same goals and challenges as us.  We shared what works and what doesn't.  We hope people took away some ideas that SoPo uses and we took home a lot of ideas that we have heard from others.

The weekend just started out right because as we were pulling in they were holding a kids bike derby.  Imagine grown folks riding kids bikes whizzing around in a parking lot.  It was a weekend to remember talking with bike cooperatives from across North America.  The Twin Cities was a great place to be in for the conference, to ride bikes, and enjoy some cool weather.  Start planning for next year because the 2010 conference will be in Toronto, Canada.

Thanks to the BikeBike organizers and looking forward to going north of the border.
